Why traditional parenting doesn't work with adopted children and the technique my clients are using instead to effectively parent their adopted child.
The step by step approach my clients use to remain calm and gain confidence in parenting their adopted child without yelling, begging or losing control.
How my clients diffuse arguments without becoming dysregulated.
How my clients maintain their composure even if their child is intentionally pushing their buttons.
How my clients look at root causes so they can effectively address behaviors.
And how they do all of this while not being filled with anger and regrets and are becoming the parents they envisioned they would be prior to adoption.
I am the mother of nine children, three of whom are adopted. I have been a coach-mentor and therapeutic respite provider for the past 11 years, working with children with trauma histories, the majority of whom have been adopted, as well as their parents. I founded The Attachment Place, LLC.
From 2012 - 2019 I provided full-time respite for approximately 100 children, teens and young adults helping them learn to trust and have relationships with their parents and teaching their parents to parent them from a place of calm, gaining confidence and parenting for connection. Since 2019 my primary focus has been on coaching-mentoring.
