Jenny and Mark’s Story
To Whom it May Concern,
My Husband and I highly recommend the services of The Attachment Place (T.A.P.) to anyone parenting a child with attachment issues. Our family and friends use the word “miraculous” to describe the change that has taken place in our son, since living at TAP. Eddie and Sharon Fuller were able to help our son heal from early childhood trauma, where a host of other well-meaning professionals failed. Sharon and Eddie also helped to heal our entire family, as we had become exhausted and hopeless while raising our son. The Fullers have given us a son, where we once only had a border. The Fullers have restored our family’s wholeness. You cannot go wrong sending your child to TAP.
The Fullers are a rare combination of 100% Commitment and 100% Expert. They straddled the boundary of the professional and personal domains as they reached out to our son, and brought him home to us. The Fullers have recognized issues that were not attachment, per se, but greatly impacted our son’s ability to attach. Our son has multiple neurological deficits which created and exacerbated attachment issues. The Fullers uncovered this fact and provided access to competent help specific to our son’s challenges. This ability to see beyond attachment and identify additional deficits has been crucial in our son’s ability to heal. This is something no other professionals were able to accomplish in multiple years of therapies that paved our way to TAP. Finally, the Fullers have guided our entire family in the healing process. Living with an unbounded child took a toll on the entire family. While Justin worked at TAP, the Fullers guided our family through our own healing process and helped us to learn new ways of parenting/being a family. With Sharon and Eddie’s guidance and support, our family has slowly but solidly learned how to be the parents and siblings that our son needs (vs. the parents and siblings that we reflexively “knew” how to be). The Fullers’ personal knowledge of our unique son, their ability to empathize with our very specific circumstances, and their ability to give clear direction to manage our son’s behaviors have been invaluable.
We tried, without success, to find help for our family and son years before we sent our son to TAP. It is an agonizing decision when a family realizes that their home may not be the best place for their child. Now that our son has been at TAP, I see how much happier he is with both the world and with himself. I see how my husband and I are finally able to extend our love to our son and have it accepted by him. I see how our entire family is affected when we are able to interact with a warm, loving unit instead of fatigued battle-weary soldiers. I only regret that we didn’t send our son to TAP sooner. The Fullers have transformed our child, and our family forever. We will always be grateful to them for the invaluable gift they have given us all.
